History
The St. Louis Professionals for Healthcare Quality (SPHQ), formerly known as Metropolitan St. Louis Association for Healthcare Quality (MSAHQ) was established in the late 1970’s. Although the structure of the organization has changed over the years, the focus remains the same. SPHQ strives to keep quality professionals informed of current issues, to provide educational experiences and to enhance networking opportunities.
In 2002, the Association for Quality Improvement Professionals (AQUIP) dissolved and merged with MSAHQ. As a result of this union, the organization changed their name to St. Louis Professionals for Healthcare Quality (SPHQ).
Meetings
Meetings are held up to four times a year, most of which are scheduled quarterly. The organization strives to devote one of those meetings to our Annual Education Conference, whereas, the remaining meetings are categorized as General Business meetings. All meetings include presentations given by locally and nationally-recognized speakers providing overviews of current quality-related topics impacting the work we do as healthcare professionals. Each meeting also addresses SPHQ business and provides networking opportunities for members and guests. CPHQ Continuing Education (CE) credit hours (granted through the National Association for Healthcare Quality) are offered for most meetings and issued to current members based on their meeting attendance.
Membership
- New SPHQ members: $40.00
- SPHQ membership renewals $45.00 = $40.00 for SPHQ membership + $5.00 post 4/1 membership late-fee
(For renewing members, membership applications received after April 1st will be assessed the late-fee of $5.00)
Dues are not prorated. SPHQ Membership is effective through the current calendar year.
Elected SPHQ Board Members must be current, paid members, in good standing, for at least a year prior to holding a SPHQ Board position. Nominations for vacant positions are accepted starting in Q3. Ballots are emailed to the general membership, elections are held by a membership vote, and newly elected Board members are announced in Q4. New Board members assume duties at the last general Business meeting of the current calendar year.
