About the Department:
The goal of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Infection Prevention and Interventional Epidemiology Department is to minimize infection risk to our patients by educating patients, staff and family. Infection prevention specialists work closely with physicians and nurses on the front line to implement practices which have been shown to prevent infections. The IP specialist participates in surveillance programs, data reporting, data analysis and intervention development aimed at the reduction of healthcare acquired infections in patients and employees.
Role Purpose:
Takes exceptional care of people by providing a safe environment where risks for infection are identified and minimized for patients, employees and visitors at all BJC patient care delivery sites.
Essential Responsibilities:
Conducts ongoing surveillance for detection of nosocomial infections
Assures compliance in all aspects of infection surveillance, prevention and control and serves as a Infection Control resource
Works collaboratively with the Infection Control Committee
Supports programs that maximize employees' protection against infectious diseases
Minimum Responsibilities:
Bachelors degree in Nursing or Other discipline
If applicable, current RN license in the State of Missouri
Infection prevention experience - 2 years or more
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Nursing or Public Health
Certification in Infection Control
Infection prevention experience - 5 years or more
Previous supervisory experience - 1 year or more
